My Husband Said No Gucci Diaper Bag
I’m fuming, and I need to vent. Up until now, I thought our marriage was a partnership. We both work and when income tax time rolls around, we always split our return down the middle. This year, he just casually asked me if I had any plans for my half of the tax return, and I said I was going to spend it on a Gucci diaper bag.
How the Argument Started
He chuckled and said, “That’s funny.” I said, “No really, I am buying one.” and his entire demeanor changed. He told me to consider what I would be hauling around in a diaper bag. Spit-up covered shirts from our son, leaking baby bottles, and dirty diapers (we use cloth diapers). He wanted to know seriously why I thought it was a good idea. I told him I was really too shocked and angry to continue the conversation right now, I wanted some time to cool off so I could be rational. And here I am, putting a list of discussion points together about why I want a high-end diaper bag.
Reasons for a Gucci Diaper Bag
The particular diaper bag that I want is the beige/ebony original GG fabric and has a dark brown leather trim. You really won’t look at it and think it was a diaper bag. It has this cool feature of stroller snaps so when we’re taking our baby I can just snap this diaper bag onto the stroller. I’m a huge fan of zip top closures on bags since my wallet got liberated from my purse when I was shopping. I looked away for just a second at something on a shelf, and my wallet was missing. I still don’t know how it was lifted so fast. Made me a big believer in securely closing bags of all types however. This also has a fold out changing mat which is convenient and lots of pockets for carrying all those necessary items.
Reasons Against a Gucci Diaper Bag
The main argument my husband had against the Gucci bag was the price. He’s got this idea that I’m going to pay a lot of money for something I’m only going to use for a few months, and then it’s going to go into the closet. I’m going to use this as a diaper bag until I don’t need it for that purpose and then use it as a tote. Plus we’re planning on having another baby in the future, so I will already have a really nice diaper bag at the ready.
The solution I’m Coming Up With
I think I’m going to try to address the main pricing concern my husband has and try to find the absolutely best deal I can. The only thing I am wary of is that I’ve been told a lot of good deals on Gucci bags happen because they are counterfeit and I don’t want to even pay a dollar for a fake Gucci. I can go to a swap meet downtown and get that. We have time until we file those taxes and that sweet refund hits, so I’m going to use that time to find the best deal on a real Gucci diaper bag from an authorized dealer. I don’t want to fight with my husband about a diaper bag, but I don’t buy myself nice things very often. In fact, I save money all that I can, but I’ve always wanted to own just one Gucci thing, and I’d like to own a Gucci diaper bag. I can use it for any other children we have, and I can use it as a tote after it’s not needed as a diaper bag any longer. What would you say to your husband to convince him it was a good idea?
