Have You Seen the Delta Riley Mini Crib?

One item I think every new parent should invest in is a mini crib. It’s been a few years since I bought one. Some friends and I are throwing a “sprinkle” (instead of a shower) for a friend who is expecting but already has a toddler and doesn’t need much in the way of baby things. So a small group of us are getting together, and we are getting her a mini crib, and with that in mind, I’d like to share what I’ve learned about the Delta Riley Mini Crib with you.

Overview

Delta Riley Mini Crib

I love the entire Delta line of cribs because you often get more than just a crib out of the deal. This crib will convert to a twin size bed. So when your baby no longer needs the mini crib, you have a twin bed frame at the ready.

Delta Riley Mini Crib

When you have your first child, you tend to buy everything that everyone tells you that you need. Because I listened to all these well meaning people, I thought I needed a crib, a bassinet, and of course a portable crib. When my oldest child outgrew those things, I had several things that I had to find storage areas for until our family expanded again. Later, when my other children were born, I found I just didn’t need as much. I wound up donating and giving away all my baby furniture, and I invested in a crib and a mini crib. One thing I made mandatory for all future baby furniture purchases is that those choices are useful after the baby has outgrown them. A mini crib like this Delta crib is not only a space saver that will give your baby a comfortable and safe place to snooze; it’s also convertible to a twin size bed.

Pros of the Delta Riley Mini Crib

Delta Riley Mini Crib

The positives on this crib are many. A mini crib is such a space saver. There is no drop side with this crib. That is a feature I personally never liked in cribs after my oldest managed to make the safety fail on her crib side rail and it wound up smashing her little fingers. Fortunately nothing was broken, but I did screw the side of the crib in place that very day, so the drop mechanism never worked again. With a stationary side rail like on this crib, you never have that worry. Another question people have asked about mini cribs is, “Aren’t they too small?” Honestly, unless your baby longer than 40-inches or wider than 27-inches, you won’t have any issues with a mini crib. Plus, your baby won’t be in the crib much more than to sleep, so the space saving size of a mini crib is a big plus.

Cons of the Delta Riley Mini Crib

Personally, I’ve never had a bad experience with a mini crib. I was reading the cons around the web about this style of mini crib and honestly I found very few. I found three to be exact. One was complaining the mattress that came with the crib was not 3-inches as they were told. The other two were complaining that the crib is manufactured in China. None of those is related to design issues, and I have to say this is a very solidly built mini crib.

Conclusion

Delta Riley Mini Crib

The Delta Riley Mini Crib is a great choice for parents that live in a smaller space and need the functionality of a full-size crib. This is also a great solution for grandparents that want to have a place for their grandchild to snooze during visits but don’t want the space commitment of a full sized crib. Also, since this mini crib is convertible to a twin size bed, it can be used for your baby when she gets older, or it can easily become a bed in a guest room.
