5 Reasons Why Baby Shower Bingo is a Great Ice Breaker Game for Your Baby Shower
Baby showers are all about welcoming a new family member with the love of family and friends. One of the best games to have at your baby shower is baby shower bingo. Even if you have some shower attendees who “aren’t into games” you’ll find they will usually come around for a game of bingo. I have found from experience at my own showers, and showers I have thrown for other mommies-to-be, it’s a great game to schedule at a shower because it’s so easy to play. Actually it was a game I hadn’t even thought of in a lot of years until I went to a baby shower a few years go before my own family started expanding. We played baby-themed bingo and everyone wound up laughing at some of the wording on the bingo cards. And that’s the key, people were having fun which what a shower is all about anyway.
Baby Shower Bingo Brings the Laughs
You don’t have to just use bingo cards with numbers on them and shout out, “B-12.” Baby shower bingo can have themes specifically for boys or girls, or just an overall baby theme. Wording such as “3am Feeding” or “Mommy Sleeps In” are all possibilities for bingo cards. Since there are so many places to create your own bingo cards online, you can totally customize your cards for your own shower. Use the mother-to-be’s name and her partner, or if she has a name already chosen for her baby and you know the sex, you can absolutely personalize the cards for her baby.
One of the Top Baby Shower Games
Bingo is probably one of the most well-known shower games played. Along with guessing what’s in the diaper, bingo is a frequently played game at baby showers. One of the main reasons is that it’s fast moving, and it’s easy to chat and laugh while the game is on.
Baby Shower Bingo is Free
If you’re throwing a baby shower on a budget, no problem. You can make your own baby shower bingo cards, and print them out yourself online. You can also print out bingo card markers too. You can also make your own cute markers by using a round hole punch, such as you would use in scrapbooking, to create personally designed card markers. Another idea is to use candies for the bingo card markers. That didn’t work out so hot for me, I kept eating my markers. I couldn’t help it, they were delicious.
Easy to Learn and Play
Baby shower bingo is simple to play. I had someone I invited from my office to my baby shower and she grew up in a household where games of any kind were frowned upon. I had gotten to know her fairly well at the office, and so I asked her if playing games would be an issue for her. She told me she was excited to meet my other friends and family, and yes, she’d love to play a game. Teaching her bingo was a breeze.
Variety of Bingo Styles
As I touched on above, there are tons of variations to baby shower bingo you can create. Use the cards with numbers, or go nuts and make your bingo game about the people attending. I have done both, and found everyone got engaged and had fun either way.
Baby shower bingo gets everyone involved from the start. If you have guests who don’t know each other well, such as you’re combining family, friends, and friends from work, it’s a killer way to break the ice for everyone. They get to have fun in the process while being wowed too. I loved the baby shower bingo at my own baby shower and recommend it when I’ve been lucky enough to be asked to participate in planning baby showers for others.
